As the largest general veterinary practice in the world, Banfield’s rapid revenue growth and accelerated conversion plan for hospitals from analog radiography to digital radiography necessitated a mid-2009 initiative to further advance the hospital’s Payment Card Industry (PCI) security levels. A significant part of this process included moving diagnostic images for 352 primary care veterinary hospitals from an external vendor PACS to Banfield’s internal data center within a short timeframe. Because of the project’s challenges and scope, executives began a search of data migration companies within human medicine, when a strong recommendation led Banfield to Laitek.
